Designer’s statement
My background is quite unconventional. I didn’t study fashion or jewelry design—I studied musicology, sociology, and anthropology. I have only been creating jewelry and accessories for the past three years, after more than fifteen years in teaching. I use a technique that I learned on my own. When imagining a piece, I never start with a drawing, but rather with a knot that I tie and untie, or a combination of colors I feel like exploring. What matters most to me is the choice of colors—often unexpected pairings. All my pieces are entirely handwoven. I mainly work with silk satin cords. The sea has been my primary source of inspiration for this capsule, hence the name JELLYFISH for this series of necklaces and bangles.
